The Incandescent Bulb Phase Out
New government restrictions are just around the corner, starting in 2012 with the phase-out of the 100W incandescent light bulb. We take a look at this slightly confusing subject and show you how LED light bulbs can fill the gap.
Lighting Science Group
We're happy to announce that we now carry LED lighting products from Lighting Science Group. This company is making some of the best LED light bulbs we've come across and should prove to be a strong addition to the Polar-Ray.com lineup.
Philips Wins the L Prize
It's a great day for Philips as their LED 60 watt incandescent replacement bulb, set to debut in early 2012, wins the Department of Energy's L Prize and picks up a $10 million award.
Lighting Facts Labels Coming in 2012
Starting in January 2012 and coinciding with the phase out of the 100 watt incandescent bulb, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will require that all medium screw-base light bulbs be packaged with the new Lighting Facts label. The label is designed to help a consumer compare different lighting technologies in terms of light output, energy use, color temperature and lifetime, as well as to identify what level of mercury the bulb contains.
