I got this bulb to replace a bulb in a high stairway light. It works great and we have not noticed any humming.

3 Star Rating Okay, but they have an annoying buzz
 
Good strong light, low energy usage. However one bulb had a fairly loud electronic buzzing sound, and the other had a quieter buzzing sound. Both were VERY audible, and are thus not suitable for living areas.
